Irish Dancer Girl Rockin’ the Feis!

What a weekend! Four medals out of 5 competitions! She freakin’ rocks my poodle socks off! (FYI..poodle socks are what the Irish dancers wear…)
She won first place for this dance!(sorry for the poor video quality…I had to sneak it…didn’t have time to prep the camera for lighting and people kept bumping into me..yada yada yada…)

My Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Today’s post was originally going to begin with a fabulous Wordle I tried to create to honor one of my favorite movies, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” However, my computer is not cooperating with me right now so just pretend you that what you see up there is a real Wordle and not this fake thingy I’m trying to pass off as one. Back to my Breakfast at Tiffany’s….


If I were having breakfast at Tiffany’s this morning, this is what I would order off of the “menu”…

I’d start with some gorgeous key pendants….I love keys…I have them all over my home in all shapes and sizes…

Then I’ll have this….and I should probably order these off the “menu” too….
and then I should have some dessert….
I will have to buy some souvenirs to commemorate this very special breakfast….I think these little beauties are just the ticket….Holly Golightly shades and a Tiffany “blue box” charm….

Yummmmmy….that is the most pleasurable breakfast I’ve ever had!

Audrey Hepburn was a shining light during her life, and her life is an inspiration to me. She was an amazing humanitarian, a classic beauty and lived her life with great integrity. I loved her style…she made wearing capris, a button down shirt and flats an iconic fashion statement…I love this look still….absolutely timeless…and of course, who could forget that gorgeous black dress and pearls….sigh…….

She would often quote her favorite poem by Sam Levenson….you may be familiar with it…It is the perfect meaning of real beauty…I love it too…

Ode to Jane

As you may know, I absolutely LOVE Jane Austen. “Pride and Prejudice” is hands down one of my favorite books of all time. My wordle this weekend is to honor my dear Jane! If you’ve never read an Austen novel, not to worry…the dvd versions are pretty darn swell too!

Last summer, I read these Austen inspired books..

They were fantastic! I highly recommend them both!

This summer I am reading this….

Completely bizarre, I realize, but I am just compelled to read it! My son is convinced the Swine Flu is going to turn us all into zombies, so what the hey?

I am ordering this lovely bookmark from Etsy….oh, my dear sweet Etsy….

More fun with Jane….
“Becoming Jane” is a fabulous movie starring James McEvoy (love him!) and Anne Hathaway. Watch it and then watch all the Jane Austen dvds! (“Pride and Prejudice” with Keira Knightley is fantastic!) Have a Jane-o-rama! I did that last summer and it really inspired me! I’m hoping to watch the newly released Jane inspired “Lost in Austen” dvd this weekend.

Makin’ Money for the Man..the Irish Man

Yep, I am having a yard sale today and tomorrow! I will be slaving away trying to rake in a few bucks, selling off everything we own so I can continue to afford Irish dance. I will catch up with ya’ll on Monday! Got any yard sale horror stories for me? What about lucky yard sale stories??? Anything???

Before I go, I want to share this delightful tidbit that I happened upon while visiting my friend, Ladystyx! Do you like Chick-Fil-A? Do you enjoy their tasty chicken sandwiches with pickles and a nice cold Cherry Coke as much as I do?? Then be sure to click one of those linkys! You will laugh your pa-tootie right off! Can I Elf You?

Once upon a time this morning, I wandered into the family room in my usual morning stupor. I threw back the curtains to find I had a visitor outside in the form of an elf.


Well, hello there, hottie! He was leaning against the tree holding a scroll. I went to open the door to invite him in.

“What are you doing here?” I purred in my sexy morning voice. (What? Don’t you have one of those?)

He winked at me (swoon) and nodded toward the St. Patty’s Day tree. “What do you think I’m doing here?”


I blushed. “Um…yeah…Is there a problem with the tree, Legolas?” I was feeling all tingly now. He came really close to me. Really close. “For you, my lady.” He handed me the scroll. “I come bearing glad tidings.” He brushed by me and bowed.

Be still my fluttery heart! I looked at the scroll closely. Oh jinkies…I had gotten one of these in mid January. I knew exactly who it was from.

I sighed, unrolled it and began to read.

Dearest Dawn,

While your white Christmas tree looks lovely covered in shamrocks, leprechauns, pots of gold, and the flags of Ireland, don’t you feel that this charade has gone on long enough? (Props to you for taking down the other 4 trees that you had up. At least you had enough sense to take those down in January.)

And even though Catherine was delighted to have it covered with hearts for Valentine’s Day, shouldn’t you just come to terms that you are just too stinkin’ lazy to take down the tree?

I know you’re planning on doing a shabby spring Easter theme on that tree in a few days. I KNOW. It’s time to take down the tree, dear. Put it in that nice tree bag you picked up at Target at 90% off. (Yes, the magic snowglobe shows us everything…)

Now, get along with the tree removal. It won’t be long until July when all the stores will be filled with Christmas décor and you can start all over again!

Doesn’t she understand I am busy blogging? Doesn’t she know that I am horribly behind in my comment lovin’? Can’t she see that I am exhausted this week and can’t come up with a blog post that makes sense? DOESN’T SHE CARE? Mrs. Claus!

I glance at Legolas. He is staring at me with intensity. I feel flush. I plop down on the sofa. Heck, I was just trying to get my money’s worth out of that tree.

“Can’t you conjure up some more of your elf friends to come and help me, Legolas?” I plead batting my lashes at him.

“Alas, I cannot. I can become a pirate for you though, and be your eye candy while you take down the tree.”

Bow-chicka-bow-wow…buh-bye White Christmas St. Patty’s Day Tree…Hello, Eye Candy!
